Strengthening the foundation for global AX business expansion with OpenFrame, securing major deals in Japan last year
Transforming its business model toward a product- and consulting-driven approach while fostering global partners
Enterprise software company TmaxSoft (CEO HyongYong Lee) stated on the 10th that it is accelerating its global system modernization strategy by enabling flexible AI transformation through OpenFrame.
As part of its expansion in Japan’s digital transformation (DX) market, TmaxSoft recently co-hosted a webinar with Skyage, a Japan-based IT and DX consulting firm, presenting strategies for successful mainframe modernization. The event generated strong interest and inquiries from potential customers in Japan regarding OpenFrame.
OpenFrame is an integrated solution that enables the safe migration of core business assets from traditionally closed legacy mainframe systems to modern environments. It has been recognized for its technological excellence and service competitiveness by being named a Leader in the mainframe modernization software category in ISG’s Quadrant Report for five consecutive years since 2021.
With OpenFrame, TmaxSoft aims to go beyond simple system upgrades and evolve into a global AX partner, supporting customers in building sustainable business systems for the AI era. The company is particularly focusing on Japan, where demand for mainframe modernization is expected to surge due to the “digital cliff.” Additionally, with Fujitsu discontinuing new mainframe product sales and maintaining support only until 2035, demand for migration and cloud transformation is expected to continue.
TmaxSoft has already achieved strong results in Japan, securing large-scale modernization projects with major non-life insurers, life insurance companies, automotive firms, and financial institutions, generating stable revenue through its local subsidiary.
Key factors behind this success include proven expertise in various modernization approaches (rehosting, replatforming, refactoring), risk minimization strategies ensuring business continuity, practical approaches tailored to customer environments and business goals, and differentiated technical support services offered by OpenFrame.
This year, TmaxSoft plans to accelerate the development of AI-powered solutions while expanding its global AX business. Through mainframe modernization projects, the company aims to establish a strong foundation for customers’ AI transformation and actively create new business opportunities.
As part of its mid- to long-term strategy, TmaxSoft will shift its business model toward a product- and consulting-driven approach and focus on nurturing global partners. It will also increase R&D investment in its Japan subsidiary and expand global marketing through close collaboration between headquarters and overseas entities.
CEO HyongYong Lee stated,
“System modernization is a key strategy that enables enterprises to move beyond legacy systems, enter modern IT ecosystems, significantly reduce total cost of ownership (TCO), and create greater business value. We aim to become a trusted partner in our customers’ journey toward AI-driven innovation.”
