TmaxSoft Japan and Kyndryl Japan will combine OpenFrame technology with extensive large-scale system migration expertise to help Japanese enterprises move mission-critical workloads from mainframes to open and cloud environments more efficiently and with lower risk.
TOKYO, Japan — August 7, 2026 — TmaxSoft Japan Co., Ltd. (“TmaxSoft Japan”), a provider of enterprise rehosting and modernization solutions, and Kyndryl Japan K.K. (“Kyndryl Japan”) have signed a basic agreement to establish the OpenFrame Modernization Center of Excellence (“OpenFrame CoE”).
Through this strategic collaboration, the two companies will build an integrated framework spanning sales and marketing, project delivery, maintenance and support. The initiative will help Japanese enterprises accelerate their transition away from mainframes and migrate mission-critical systems to open and cloud environments.
The OpenFrame CoE will be a specialist organization dedicated to implementing OpenFrame, TmaxSoft Japan’s mainframe modernization solution.
By moving beyond a conventional, project-by-project systems integration model and establishing a more efficient service delivery model based on standardization, reuse and clearly defined responsibilities, the organization aims to provide faster, high-quality modernization services.
TmaxSoft Japan and Kyndryl Japan will jointly pursue the following initiatives:
Joint development of mainframe modernization opportunities
Coordinated sales and marketing activities
Joint project delivery
Joint maintenance and support services
Kyndryl Japan helps Japanese enterprises address their mainframe modernization challenges through three approaches: “Modernize on,” “Integrate with” and “Move off.”
The “Move off” approach enables organizations to migrate from mainframes to open systems, optimize IT costs, improve operational flexibility and establish a technology foundation capable of supporting future digital transformation.
TmaxSoft Japan’s OpenFrame is a proven rehosting solution that allows organizations to migrate to open environments while continuing to use their existing application assets, minimizing both modification risks and migration workloads.
Through the newly established OpenFrame Modernization Center of Excellence, Kyndryl Japan’s extensive experience in large-scale system migrations will be combined with TmaxSoft Japan’s modernization technology. Together, the companies will provide end-to-end support—from migration planning and execution through operational adoption—to help customers advance their digital transformation initiatives and achieve sustainable business growth.
TmaxSoft provides OpenFrame, a mainframe modernization solution designed to help customers realize advanced business systems.
In Japan, where digital transformation is accelerating, OpenFrame has been selected by major property and casualty insurers, life insurers, automotive manufacturers, credit card companies and payment service providers. These engagements demonstrate both the strength of OpenFrame and the high level of trust it has earned from customers.
TmaxSoft Japan will continue working with Kyndryl Japan to create successful customer references by drawing on its differentiated strengths: a risk-minimization strategy that protects business continuity, a range of modernization approaches tailored to each customer’s system environment and business objectives, and comprehensive, hands-on technical support.
OpenFrame is TmaxSoft Japan’s mainframe modernization solution. It enables organizations to migrate to open systems and cloud environments while maximizing the continued value of their existing mainframe assets.
Its rehosting approach enables migrations to be completed more quickly and cost-effectively than many other mainframe modernization methods.
Because existing assets written in COBOL, PL/I, Assembler and JCL can be migrated without redevelopment, OpenFrame significantly reduces migration risks and workloads. The solution has been adopted by major companies, government organizations and public-sector institutions in Japan and internationally.
